“When you build innovation into the DNA of the company it lasts.
It just becomes part of what you do.”

Innovation Analysis & Development (Strategic Plan and Training)

Strategy development is key to helping teams and organisations adapt and plan for the future.

Today, storytelling is a widely used research method for innovation and design thinking. It allows the facilitator to delve and reveal unarticulated needs, wants and truths ― to make sense of complexity. It is part of our approach and used as a precursor to more formal analysis.

In this program, we conduct one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders to capture the stories of what’s working well. That is, how and why individuals innovate and how your organisational culture helped and hindered. This knowledge provides a platform for more formal analysis, allowing your organisation to review its approach to innovation and collaboration.

Using these stories and qualitative data, we’ll build an analysis of why, where and how innovation is happening. Then, through a facilitated workshop for leaders, we’ll present the analysis and work through identifying issues to be solved and strategies for success.

This program includes capturing stories, idea generation, idea theming, and action planning to develop a challenge brief.

Delivery:

We recommend interviews be carried out over the phone. The facilitated workshop may be delivered online or in person.

Optional:

Stories may be assessed under our Hargraves Innovator Awards criteria, providing the opportunity to boost your culture by celebrating your people and their strengths while promoting your organisation as a great place to work.

The Connected Leader

Lead high-performing teams for innovation and growth.

In a world of changing customer expectations, diverse employees and ever-expanding technology options, organisations and teams must be fast and agile to achieve their purpose. They need connected leaders who are aligned, connected and innovative, turning:

  • Customer needs, interests, concerns and expectations into outcomes.
  • Employees (as individuals) into teams.
  • Investment in technology into solutions that people use.

This program develops leaders who can perform across the three dimensions of employee experience, customer experience and digital experience, delivering a framework of practices that empower participants to lead themselves and others in a modern workplace.

Through carefully selected and proven experiences and case studies, participants will explore how to:

  • Innovate for the future by applying practices and behaviours that focus on people and action.
  • Realise organisational strategy through positive team habits and team leadership.
  • Optimise diversity to inspire both trust and creativity.
  • Build a unifying purpose through inclusive and clear communication.
  • Utilise analogue and digital methods to build collaboration that delivers outcomes.

With a focus on innovation and collaboration, this program will give you the skills and confidence to have a real impact in your workplace.

Ideal for:

  • Emerging and existing team leaders who want to make change happen at work.
  • Aspiring leaders and current leaders who want to grow and improve.

Delivery:

We recommend the 4 modules be delivered online over a 4-week period. This allows participants time to review the content after each session and think about it in the context of their role and what changes they could apply to make a difference. This format especially suits large organisations and builds relationships between participants located nationally and internationally.

This program may also be delivered as a 2-day in-house workshop.

Women @ Work

Learn how to create opportunities and pathways for yourself and others.

The evidence is clear. While diversity and inclusion are critical for a healthy society, economy and workplace, they can only be achieved by removing invisible barriers, changing outdated work structures and creating a workplace where all can belong. Through exploring the latest research, lived experience, and the stories of others, we come to understand how to lead change in the career and workplace.

This highly interactive evidence-based program has been co-created by women for women to:

  • Explore the elements of an innovation mindset to bring about change.
  • Learn how to establish and maintain a healthy collaborative culture.
  • Explore workplace barriers such as bias and inflexible work practices and find ways to overcome them.
  • Build a suite of practices to help you shape your career and contribute to positive change in your workplace.
  • Understand how diversity impacts the workplace and what strategies leaders can adopt.

Corporate Outcomes

Be seen as an organisation committed to leading a more supportive and inclusive workplace where teams perform better and individuals use the strengths they bring to the table to make your organisation a better place to work.

Participant Outcomes:

  • A method for building innovation and change.
  • Practical tools for creating inclusive and diverse teams.
  • Strategies for overcoming barriers to career progression.
  • A career plan which builds on your strengths, values and interests.

Project:

Participants are invited to create a real project at the end of the course to cement learnings and share the value of the program within the business. Coaching and a follow-up session are provided to support project development and pitch.

Hargraves Innovation Coaching and Collaboration

Traditional executive coaching asks: “How do I become a successful leader?” Innovation coaching asks: “Given who I am, whom I know and what I know, what kind of innovation leader could I become? What kind of innovation culture could I create? How can I help my team thrive?”

The pace of change within organisations is unprecedented. Staff engagement, experience and wellbeing are critical; more must be done with less. Your approach to innovation and collaboration can’t stand still.

The need for high-performing teams has never been greater. Only with sustained attention will your innovation strategy remain relevant, engaging, productive and valuable.

Our Innovation (and Collaboration) Coaching Program is a fully customised program, incorporating proven practices and methodologies to help leaders bridge the gap between where they are now and what they know could be possible. With practical tools and skills to engage key stakeholders,  enhance collaboration and influence outcomes to improve performance, productivity and growth.

It’s about understanding the different strengths we all bring to the table and using those strengths to make your organisation a better place to work.”

The Hargraves Innovator Awards

For organisations striving to attract and retain staff, recognising your people in a meaningful way is essential. Capturing and sharing employee stories boosts confidence, improves culture and employee engagement and promotes the organisation as a great place to work.

As innovators tell their story, they analyse their mindset ― the beliefs, perspectives, behaviour, and actions they brought to the innovation. Through the Hargraves Innovator Awards process, they examine their unique strengths and attributes that make for great innovation but are rarely acknowledged. Recognising them makes candidates feel more confident, more engaged and prouder of the work they do.

Importantly, your stories contain lessons about how to innovate in your workplace. With real-life insights from your people, you can address the barriers and strengthen the enablers to create real momentum for your innovation initiative.

This award has really impacted the team in so many positive ways and has allowed us all time to reflect on what we actually did and feel rightfully proud. Thank you for your time on the phone and your excellent articulation of this project.

Custom and Technical Solutions

Sometimes, you need something highly specialised or technical to address a specific challenge. With almost 20 years of experience developing proprietary tools, techniques and processes, and delivering niche solutions across diverse sectors and industries, we can design a project or program to address your needs or to complement your innovation capability maturity level.

While we can’t go into detail about our project work, if you’d like to chat with Allan, he’d be happy to elaborate on our technical expertise, or arrange a corporate strategy assessment to analyse your innovation maturity level and make recommendations.

123 Innovate is a simple innovation process that links people and their capabilities with innovation theory. The result is a flexible process and suite of tools to help organisations create new products and services, build more efficient and effective processes and develop more sustainable business models and new ventures.

Through a 1/2 day in-house workshop, participants learn how to implement this process across the organisation.

Positioned to accelerate continuous improvement processes and develop a climate where innovation becomes everyone’s responsibility, 123 Innovate complements any existing continuous improvement, Six Sigma and LEAN manufacturing initiatives.

Allan Ryan developed 123 Innovate in consultation with Dr Peter Bryant.

STEP the Assets™ brings our expertise and the talent and industry-specific skills of your organisation together to deliver breakthrough solutions to deep-seated internal issues related to technology, production and manufacturing. Projects last 30 to 90 days, covering the full cycle of work beginning with Problem Definition, Theoretical and Practical Solutions and, finally, delivery.

Each phase has specific outcomes defined in advance and may draw on a variety of proven methods, tools and frameworks to help you understand, create, innovate, and solve tough problems in a fraction of the time.

Uniquely designed around your people and organisational needs, X-Teams uses a fundamentally different approach to talent development. By combining people and organisational development and change, X-Teams delivers a program of engaging activities for future leaders in complex organisations.

Designed by Michael Schrage of MIT and Allan Ryan, X-Teams delivers a hands-on, practical experience creating new ideas that easily align with your goals.

X-Teams is customised and integrated with individual, organisational or department objectives, goals and internal programs, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum contribution from all stakeholders, including program sponsor, relevant executive leaders and participant sponsors, and participants themselves – generally high performers, senior executives and managers.

Typically, X-Teams projects are ‘hothouse’ environments that test the participants with real issues and presentation of ideas to executive leaders as part of the normal course of business initiatives.
