Welcome to my first post of Lisa’s Latest !
Firstly, I am by no means a creative writer (however that is my handwriting above) and I like to think that my motto of “keep it simple” makes life a little less stressful. As Events Co-ordinator at Hargraves, the most important part of my role is to help our members and guests attend, present and meet new friends at the many events that I organise.
That being said, the next 12 months are the most important in my 8 years here. 2016 is Hargraves 10 year anniversary and I’ll be coordinating the celebrations, commemorating this milestone with the biggest event in our history. Conference2016 (#HIConf16), our premier annual event will be a celebration of innovation surpassing all past conferences. To achieve our ambitious goals for members, I’ll be sharing my year through ‘Lisa’s Latest’, a place where you can share, participate and be involved in our celebration of innovation in the simplest way for you, but I’m asking for your help.
As you know, Hargraves is all about our members: sharing stories, hearing challenges and successes, catching up at events and workshops – it’s all about collaboration and our key phrase ‘collective wisdom’. Post-event comments from all our 9 conferences always includes how wonderful it was to see familiar faces again, chat with like-minded leaders and meet new contacts, all of which cements the core of Hargraves. Obviously having inspirational speakers, a great location and catering helps, but we are a community of open collaboration and Conference is our main event where this happens.
However over the past few years, we’ve found that it’s not always easy for members to attend Conference – limited budgets, travel restrictions and time away from the office are always a challenge.
So, how can we turn 2016 around to get everyone together to celebrate this milestone anniversary? That’s my challenge.
My Bali break is over and I’m keen to start working on the organisation of our 2016 celebratory events. We have tentatively set the date for Wednesday, 18th May 2016 in Sydney with associated events in Brisbane and Melbourne. Now I’m looking for hosts, speakers, suggested venues, new workshop concepts, any idea that you think would benefit and add value to our membership community. You can email your ideas, or call me on 02 9114 8602.
I look forward to hearing from you and updating you on where we’re at, and of course, catching up with all of you at Conference2016.
