The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ)
This systematic creativity process consists of four major steps: problem definition, selecting appropriate solution routes, generating solutions and evaluating and selecting the most appropriate course of action. This tool is based on three principles:
- Problems and solutions were repeated across industries and sciences
- Patterns of technical evolution were repeated across industries and sciences
- Innovations used scientific effects outside the field where they were developed
In the application of TRIZ all three of these findings are applied to create and to improve products, services, and systems. Hargraves Institute offers workshops, user groups and supportive material to assist in the implementation of this powerful problem solving process.
TRIZ User Group
This User Group meets 3 times per year following up the skills and techniques learnt during the various TRIZ workshops. The purpose of the group is to discuss the implementation of TRIZ within each participating organisation, and participation is free for those who have participated in one of Darrell Mann's Hargraves workshops.
