Objectives

  1. To improve the new product development outcomes for our respective businesses, measured in financial terms.
  2. Create a functioning network of non competing businesses to share best practice on an ongoing basis.
  3. Exhibit to our businesses the value of the Hargraves Institute fostering learning and growth that delivers tangible benefits.
  4. Identify best practice for new product development including benchmarking and metrics.

Expectations

  1. Establish an environment of open dialogue where all group members add value.
  2. Group members will respect confidentiality and observe common courtesy, simple team rules and etiquette.
  3. Whenever possible replacements will attend when key team member is unable to do so.

Project list

  1. To investigate appropriate TOOLS TO MANAGE IDEAS, INDIVIDUALLY AND IN PORTFOLIOS including selection criteria, software solutions and databases that deliver more successful ideas and outcomes.
  2. To investigate PROCESS, TOOLS AND METHODS TO GENERATE MEANINGFUL INSIGHTS that deliver better ideas and successful outcomes.
  3. To investigate PROCESS STEPS FOR IDEA GENERATION AND FEASIBILITY including idea filtering, nurturing and development while maintaining the integrity of the initial concept.
  4. To investigate COMMON LANGUAGE AND BENCHMARKS FOR THE NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS including decision points (Gates) that improve management on the process.
  5. To investigate HOW NPD integrates and links across other areas of the business including how other relevant areas organise themselves to best deliver their NPD responsibilities.
