DETAILS and REGISTRATION
Here
are what some members quoted from the Sydney Congress event
:
“It’s
always stimulating and exciting to hear the experiences of
intelligent people working in my field. A real buzz.”
“Rapid
fire concentrated bursts of insight and value from
members.”
“The
day brought to life opportunities being offered by Hargraves that I
might be missing in the usual email and brochure
flurries.”
As
part of Excellence2008 we held a 2 day workshop by
international leading authority in the field of innovation -
Mr Darrell L Mann.

Paul
Carter, Innovation Manager from Cochlear invites you to attend this
two day event.
“I
found Darrell's course inspirational - a breath of fresh air. Here
is someone offering systematic and concrete methods for quickly
generating the solutions that most of us assume we just have to sit
around and wait for. He has a deep understanding of the process of
innovation, why most of us do it poorly and how to systematically
look beyond the "dominant paradigm" to generate novel solutions.
Darrell's real strength is that he is a doer as well as a teacher.
He spends about half of his time teaching and the other half
generating breakthrough solutions in some of the world's most
innovative organisations. Consequently he always has a timely and
relevant example to illustrate the points he makes."

Exclusive Lunch -
Brainwaves: Workplace Innovation (presented
by Russell Eddington of South East Water) - 7 August 2008 -
Melbourne
Kindly
hosted by Roche
In this
presentation, Russell used his real-world experience to challenge
delegates to make their business sustainable through organisational
innovation.
Utilities
businesses around the world face a common conflict: growing demand
and limited supply. As businesses, how can we help reduce our
customers’ demand for what we sell whilst maintaining profit
levels? South East Water is facing this challenge by
encouraging innovation at every level of its business.
Now in
its fourth year, South East Water’s flagship innovation program
“Brain Waves” recently won Victoria’s Engineering Excellence Awards
for Workplace Innovation. The successful program is a
business planning competition where staff compete for a $20,000
prize for the best business plan. In excess of $700,000 has been
invested in competition entries, with many successfully
implemented. South East Water also encourages and manages new
ideas through a software tool which enables them to run frequent
company-wide “idea campaigns”.

The
Hargraves Institute is exploring the challenges and opportunities
presented by the transition to a carbon constrained economy as many
members are affected by the National Greenhouse Emissions
Regulations (NGER) and National Emissions Trading Scheme
(NETS).
NGER and
NETS with similar schemes around the world, will change the global
R&D and innovation landscapes. Exploitation of
sustainable technologies that displace greenhouse gas emitting
technologies will be rewarded.
With our
wide and diverse membership, brings the opportunity to use
‘collaborative consultation’ to assist all members in addressing
this issue.

: Change Projects - 10 common and costly mistakes -
MYOB
29
May 2008 - Melbourne & 3 June 2008 - Sydney
This
presentation described ten mistakes that are commonly made by
organisations, teams and individuals when implementing some sort of
organisational change. Whether the change is a re-structure, a
business transformation or a systems implementation, these
potential pitfalls must be addressed in order to capture the
benefits and avoid the costs.
Every
day, the media is full of stories about organisations that are
merging, acquiring, restructuring, implementing new technology,
re-engineering processes, delivering ground breaking new products,
de-centralising, centralising etc etc.
The
common factor driving these activities is the need to remain
competitive, and hopefully, to get ahead of the game. If we look
below the surface, innovation strategies (whether they are
incremental, disruptive or something in between) can often result
in these types of organisational change activities as companies
strive to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world. Too often
though, the projected benefits of change projects are not fully
captured.
Presented
by Catherine Handley, Change Manager with MYOB
Catherine
Handley is Change Manager with MYOB. Her sole focus since joining
MYOB 10 months ago has been to develop and drive ‘ Accelerate
Innovation’ - a multi-year, company-wide change program with the
goal of reinvigorating team members, ensuring the ongoing delivery
of new value to clients and continually improving existing process
and products.
Catherine
has developed her change philosophy, methodology and tools over a
twelve year period during which time she has delivered large scale
organisational change programs into a number of organisations,
industries and countries.

DETAILS
Mike
Larmer -ManagingDirector,
TEQUILA
If you
have ever wanted to know how to achieve greatness on a shoestring
budget then the Oxfam ‘Unwrapped’ campaign is one to
watch. Mike will present this award winning campaign from
TEQUILA that aimed to drive donations for Oxfam. To cut
through the pre-Christmas clutter a viral video was created that
returned explosive hits to the Unwrapped website, generating 40,000
more donors and an additional $200K in donations compared to the
previous year – all from a budget of $15,000 for the campaign.
Mike
will follow the Oxfam case study with another award winning piece
of work from TEQUILA - adiRun for adidas that showcases the art of
customer engagement in the retail sector. The case study highlights
how TEQUILA increased retail sales and enhanced customer engagement
with the brand.
Marcus
Hawkins-Adams -Managing
Director, Brave New World
Marcus
will be presenting two case studies. The first is Brave’s award
winning work for Turners Car Auctions, where they found a novel
approach to grow sales by 20% using various channels including SMS,
Press, Search and Web. Secondly,
Marcus will be presenting the ANZ-Bonus bonds case study, where
Brave began development of tools to measure the effectiveness of
above the line media including TV, radio and press.
Finally,
Brave will give you a preview into their media measurement and
analytics development – TARP2TXT which promises to give clients
great insight as to how their chosen media channels are performing
in concert with each other.
Simon
Morgan -Managing
Partner, Myne
Simon
has spent 20 years in the interactive, direct marketing and
advertising industries working with clients across the UK,
Australia, New Zealand and other global marketplaces.
He has launched several successful businesses including three
agencies and one online business, as well as being the primary
architect of many award-winning and highly successful marketing
programmes. Most recently, fascinated by the social media landscape
Simon has been involved in the development of a number of
ground-breaking campaigns designed to leverage this relatively new
phenomenon. He is a partner at Publicis Mojo and co-lead the
development of the agency’s trans-Tasman digital offer seeing
revenues grow by a factor of four over the last three years.
Simon is currently driving the development of Publicis’ latest
digital venture - Myne, an innovations business that seeks to help
clients fully leverage the new opportunities offered by the digital
age, through the creation of innovative partnerships and go to
market strategies.
Peter
Hunter -General
Manager – International, Touchpoint
The dark
rum category had been in sad spirits, showing a gradual decline.
And history indicated that traditional brand advertising was
ineffective in addressing this decline. Peter will unveil the
strategy and technology behind what became the award winning ‘Get
sponsored by Coruba’ campaign where the only constraints were
budget and the brief to stay true to the brand.
With 4.8
million website hits and growth of 41% for Coruba’s marketing
database, the campaign proved with out a doubt that an interactive
approach was far more powerful than a conventional one.
